HAITI – Haiti’s top immigration official is in custody as police investigate an alleged passport fraud network inside the country’s immigration department.

Authorities say Director General Antoine Jean Simon Fay-Nay-Lon (Fénélon), along with nine other employees were detained after a police operation requested by prosecutors in Port-au-Prince.

Investigators have also sealed the passport production office as they try to determine whether passports were illegally issued using mismatched tax identification numbers.
