Terez Curry Elected Chair of the Audit and Risk Commission of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Bahamas Red Cross Society is thrilled to announce that Terez Curry Immediate Past President, has been elected as Chair of the Audit and Risk Commission of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Bahamas Red Cross Society is thrilled to announce that Terez Curry Immediate Past President, has been elected as Chair of the Audit and Risk Commission of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
This prestigious appointment was made during the 34th General Assembly of the IFRC in Geneva, Switzerland.
As chair, Mrs. Curry will also serve on the Governing Board of the IRFC, thus highest authority of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
“We are incredibly proud of Terez and her well-deserved election to this critical role,” said Edison L. Sumner, President of the Bahamas Red Cross Society. “Her leadership and dedication to the Red Cross movement have always shone brightly, and now her expertise will guide the IFRC at the international level. This is a momentous occasion, not just for Terez, but for our entire nation as a Bahamian takes on this esteemed position. We were pleased to support her elevation to this role, building on her previous service as a member of the Audit and Risk Commission.”
As Chairman of the Audit and Risk Commission, Curry will oversee the IFRC’s audit and risk management practices. She will ensure the Federation’s financial integrity, transparency, and adherence to global standards. Her responsibilities will include:
• Providing independent assurance to the Governing Board on the IFRC’s risk management practices and internal controls.
• Overseeing the Federation’s internal and external audit functions.• Ensuring the IFRC’s financial reporting is accurate, complete, and compliant with international standards.
