The Bahamas Has Obligations to Change Legislation and Constitution
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some 30 years ago, the Bahamas ratified on to the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some 30 years ago, The Bahamas ratified on to the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
The convention monitors the status of every woman in every country ratified to the convention.
CEDAW member, advocate and attorney Marion Bethel notes that every four years, every country must appear before the committee.
Bethel explains the significance of The Bahamas being apart of the U.N. convention.
She says there is still lots more work to do and awareness is an important first step. As for the additional recommendations that will push the advancement of women in the country forward.
