GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – While the U.S is reporting that thousands of flights have been canceled due to bad weather. It appears as if some Americans are still finding ways to travel.

The Balearia Caribbean which sails to Port Everglades, Florida from Grand Bahama and Bimini three days per week is reporting large capacity numbers since the covid-19 pandemic.

Our News had the opportunity to speak with the General Manager Mario Otero today.

In addition to Americans traveling on the vessel to spend their holidays in The Bahamas, he’s confirming that lots of Grand Bahamians are also traveling to the United States to do their annual Christmas shopping.

Otero says Grand Bahama is showing larger passenger numbers than Bimini this holiday season and despite the high demand operations are moving smoothly.

In January the boat will take a two-week break for the vessel’s yearly maintenance.
