NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Newly elected Golden Isles Member of Parliament Darron Pickstock reacts to his by-election win — and on the heels of victory, he’s predicting another in the 2026 general election. Pickstock insists it’s all but certain once he continues to deliver on his promises to residents.
Humbled by his win Monday night, Pickstock says the work “starts today” — but insists he’s already been on the ground.
Less than twenty-four hours after securing the Golden Isles seat by just over three hundred votes, Darron Pickstock says he woke up this morning grateful — and ready to get back to work.
He spoke with reporters outside the Andre Rodgers Baseball Stadium during the ballot recount.
The Progressive Liberal Party candidate was officially confirmed the winner, securing more than eighteen hundred votes in a race marked by low voter turnout.
According to the unofficial results, his closest challenger — Brian Brown of the Free National Movement — trailed with over sixteen hundred votes. Coalition of Independents candidate Brian Rolle received 348, and independent candidate Karen Butler finished with sixteen.

“Well I feel great — it’s good to be a winner.”
When asked about the victory, Pickstock says he’s humbled by the opportunity to serve and is ready to deliver results.

“I’m humbled at the opportunity to serve the constituents of Golden Isles. They’ve put their trust in me to do what I said I’m going to do. They’ve put their trust in me for good representation, and that is exactly what I’m going to give them. The work starts today — well, it continues, because we already started — and I’m excited about that.”
Pickstock admits the three-hundred-vote margin shows there’s still work to be done — particularly in a constituency he says has felt overlooked for far too long. Still, he says it’s a challenge he’s ready to take on.
And as for critics who question whether he’ll remain visible in the community now that the election is over, Pickstock insists his record speaks for itself.

“I run on my record. I’m my own man. The people have put their trust in me, but I understand that trust has to be earned — and that happens through being consistent, through action, and by doing what you say you’re going to do.”
Now that the by-election is behind him, Pickstock says he’s already looking ahead — confident that his work in Golden Isles will translate into another victory when voters return to the polls in 2026.

“Do what you say you’re going to do. Be present. Give good representation — that’s what people want, that’s what the residents want. And so we have no doubt in our mind whatsoever that we will be victorious in 2026.”
