NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 2022-23 season begins for Bahamian NBA stars Buddy Hield and Deandre Ayton, Wednesday.

Hield and his Indiana Pacers’ season will begin tonight against the Wizards in Washington DC. With the team in a midst of a rebuild after trading its best player, Domantis Sabonis for Hield before last season’s deadline, it wouldn’t be surprising if Buddy is traded yet again for draft picks at some point this season.

Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns will also make their season debut tomorrow. This game will be held against the Mavericks in Dallas at 10 pm. Unlike Buddy Hield and the struggling Pacers, the Suns had real championship expectations last year after finishing the regular season with the best record in the NBA before being upset by the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference semifinals.

After a tumultuous offseason for the team that included their owner being mired in scandal and a contentious contract renegotiation with the 24-year-old Bahamian center which resulted in him signing a max deal.

Ayton and the Suns begin the season on shaky ground, however, without much offseason roster improvement, time will tell if the Suns will contend for the finals again.
