NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamian men and women may soon have equal rights to pass on their citizenship as government will amend The Bahamas Nationality Act to equalize access for men and women.

The news coming from Attorney General Ryan Pinder who says there will be no third referendum on citizenship in the country.

A constitutional referendum was held back on June 7, 2016, where voters were asked whether they approve of four separate constitutional amendments, including equal rights for citizenship. All four proposals were rejected.

During a briefing at the Office of The Prime Minister, Pinder updated reporters about progress on the legislation.
