NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One day after the government and Royal Caribbean International broke ground and signed a Heads of Agreement for a Royal Beach Club, Toby Smith finds the whole matter discouraging.

Smith has been engulfed in a long back-and-forth over three acres of crown land on Paradise Island.

While the court of appeal overwhelming voted to uphold the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter, smith says he plans to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

Smith says the heads of agreement for the RCI’s Royal Beach Club should be made public.

He’s predicting this will be similar to the Grand Lucayan which saw a letter of intent signed but no movement on the project.

During the signing, Prime Minister Philip Davis said the Bahamian people will own a 49% equity in the project.

Smith recalls that while in opposition, Davis agreed that his lease would be honored.
