THE BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history – In 1961, the chest wing of the Princess Margaret Hospital was officially opened by then-Governor Robert Stapledon on New Providence.


Then August 31st, 2015 – government-established Joulter Cays National Park. The Joulter Cays are small uninhabited islands to the north of Andros. The park is well known by research biologists and is prominent for its unique geological features among divers.


Finally, on the same day in 2015, was also the establishment of South Abaco Blue Holes National Park, with more than a dozen other protected areas identified by then Environment Minister Kendred Dorsett.
