NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in 2012, forecasters were monitoring an usual weather pattern that saw a longer winter that lead to hotter and drier weather in The Bahamas.

Then in 2020 two schools on New Providence were put on lockdown.

Also in 2020 a massive blaze at the rear of the police internal security division leading to billows of smoke for about a mile.

Police who were trying to keep curious onlooker away said 50 vehicles were on fire.

Then in 2021, The Bahamas received its first batch of covid-19 vaccines. 20,000 doses secured through the Covax facility landed at LPIA on a flight from Newark, New Jersey.

And finally in 2022, to mark its 50th birthday Carnival announced $300 million dollar projects for Grand Bahama and San Salvador.

While the $2 million Elnet Maritime Centre was opened by Prime Minister Philip Davis in Freeport It was touted as a significant step in the rebound of the islands economy.
