NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Elisha Obed is arguably the greatest fighter in Bahamian boxing history and with over 100 fights in his pro career there’s no shortage of milestone moments.

Today we look back at one of those moments where he celebrated the holidays with a win at home.

December 26th, 1979, Obed notched another win on his belt, the latest in his rivalry with local fighter Sammy Barr.

Obed won via fourth round knockout to improve to 77-9-4.

The two fought a year earlier in november and it was ruled a no contest.

The Boxing Day win over Barr was one of the few left in Obed’s storied career.

The former junior middleweight champion of the world’s career began to win down with just six more fights between 1979 and his retirement in 1981.

Mark Knowles has done it all on the court in the world of tennis but now as the parent of student athletes his attention has shifted to the football field in preparation for bowl season.

Graham Knowles, the oldest son of the Bahamian tennis icon, is a back quarterback in his freshman season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech faces off against Vanderbilt in the Birmingham Bowl on Friday, December 27, in Alabama.

Georgia Tech finished the regular season with a 7-5 record, including an opening week win over Florida State and a near-upset of Georgia in an eight overtime classic in the regular season finale.
