THE BAHAMAS – With over 30 years in the import business in Grand Bahama, we asked Ian E. Rolle, CEO of ZZZ Imports had this to say when asked if he’s concerned about the new competition from Amazon’s partnership to DHL.

“The pie is already small and they have an International company coming in and taking a big chunk of the pie, it is concerning,” he said.

Still, he says the holiday season is shaping up well for his business.

But what do Bahamian consumers think about the new competitor?

Reginald Sands is an operations manager in new providence who says he’ll stick to what he knows for now.

“For me, I’m going to stick with my local shipping company,” he said. “I like to let new things marinate for a little while, let them work the bugs out and i might experiment with it at a later time, maybe sometime in the new year.”

For accountant Lisa Illing, she says it comes down to her loyalty to Bahamian-owned businesses.

Jasmine Brown recently moved to Nassau from Eleuthera. She tells us the new Amazon and DHL option has definitely given her something to think about and she’s not the only one.

But for some, they’re doing a mix of both.
