U.S.A. – Two cousins have been sentenced for their roles in smuggling 188 kilos of cocaine into Florida.

Federal judge Melissa Damian sentenced Runo Laing to seven years in prison and  Alfred Laing was jailed for 12 years after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import a controlled substance and importation of a controlled substance.

The Laings left Freeport, Grand Bahama for Florida on a 31-boat on January 5.

However, authorities intercepted and stopped the vessel about four miles from Port Evergaldes, Florida.

Officers noticed that the floor where the fuel tank is usually located had been replaced. When the officers opened the area, they discovered the fuel tank was broken and inoperable and the space was filled with cocaine.

The vessel had a second fuel tank in another location.
