NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police have charged two people and are seeking a third suspect in connection to a $2.8 million cocaine seizure.

Malike Basden, 24, and Marie Chenowith, 41, both of South Bimini, denied charges of drug possession with intent to supply and conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply at their arraignment before Senior Magistrate Raquel Whymms.

Police are searching for a third person, Michael Roberts Jr, in relation to the case.
The charges stem from a police operation on the island on Janaury 24.

While conducting inquiries at the Buccaneer Point Canal, police officers allegedky saw several men offloading coolers from a 33-foot boat.

The men allegedly fled in a truck as the officers approached and police found 139 kilos of cocaine while searching the vessel and the surrounding area.

The accused were each granted $50,000 bail and are required to wear ankle monitors and signed in weekly at the Alice Town Police Station.

Their trial is set for May 27.
