Two Charged Over $6.4M Marijuana Seizure Near Andros

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two men charged in connection with a 6.4 million dollar marijuana seizure are behind bars.

53-year-old Dwayne Forbes and 27-year-old Yohisko Baker were arrested off Andros on May 4 following a joint operation between the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

The officers allegedly seized more than 2,500 pounds of hydroponic marijuana.

Forbes and Baker pleaded not guilty to charges of drug importation, drug possession with intent to supply and conspiracy to commit the offenses when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Raquel Whymms.

They were denied bail and the matter has been adjourned to May 15 for a status hearing.
