NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two women are accused of a plot to smuggle marijuana into the prison.

Constable Demetria Stubbs, 29, who worked in the cellblock at the Magistrates’ Court, and Precious Clarke, 40, a patient care technician at the prison’s infirmary, are accused of planning to smuggle 2.4 pounds of marijuana onto the compound.

Police allegedly seized the drugs after they executed a search warrant on Clarke’s home on March 16. Clarke’s roommate Charlene Alexis was also arrested as a result of the discovery.
Authorities allegedly learned of the plan to take the drugs into the prison after examining their phone messages.

Stubbs and Clarke denied a charge of conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply at their arraignment before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.

Stubbs also pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetment to possess drugs with intent to supply, while Stubbs and Alexis denied a charge of drug possession with intent to supply.
The accused were each granted $9,500 bail and return to court on May 6 for trial.
