USA – It was the worst possible outcome to a four-day search. The U.S. Coast Guard says all five people on board a missing submersible are dead after it imploded near the wreckage of the Titanic.

In a news conference Thursday the coast guard said the families of the crew on the Titan have been notified.

The announcement came after the critical 96-hour mark when breathable air could have run out.

Rear Admiral John Mauger of the First Coast Guard District said debris found during the search for the vessel missing since Sunday “Is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel.”
