CARIBBEAN – Senior U.S. officials said Wednesday the U.S. is tracking Russian warships heading to the Caribbean for military exercises.

The ships may also visit Venezuela and Cuba. This move, amid rising tensions over western support for Ukraine, is said to show Russia’s global military presence.

The US military will monitor the drills, expected to last through summer.

Congress was briefed on the situation Wednesday.
