NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As summer winds down and universities reopen worldwide, the University of The Bahamas is inviting students to explore its Small Island Sustainability Program, designed to educate on ecotourism, marine sciences, and environmental challenges unique to island nations.

Led by Dr. Kristen Unwala, the program’s research complex, completed in 2018, features state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories.

Now in its 13th year, the program is expanding its degree offerings to meet national development needs, preparing students to work with environmental organizations globally.

Dr. Unwala emphasizes that The Bahamas’ climate and ecosystems make it an ideal location for sustainability education, offering a unique focus on small island issues that students wouldn’t encounter at other universities.
