UNITED KINGDOM – Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended the UK’s suspension of some arms sales to Israel during Prime Minister’s questions on Wednesday.

He clarified that the decision, which limits arms export licenses, was due to concerns that the equipment could be used in violations of international humanitarian law.

Starmer reiterated the UK’s support for Israel’s right to self-defense.

He also addressed the recent tragedy in which at least 12 migrants died after their boat capsized in the channel, calling the incident “shocking and deeply tragic.”
