NASSAU, BAHAMAS – School dress codes are a topic of heated discussion again this week, but this time, it’s not the dress code for students people are concerned about, it’s the attire for adults and visitors that’s sparking online chatter after a photo of a woman wearing shorts at a school drop-off point went viral and now officials, educators, and the public are reacting.

Many commenters pointed out the woman was standing outside of the school gates and felt the woman’s efforts as a parent to take the children to school herself, outweighed the importance of her attire.

As for those who criticized the fact that the photo was taken without her permission.

This graphic has also been re-circulating, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Lorraine Symonette-Armbrister – says the graphic and its rules are not new.

They’ve been posted at various schools and buildings for at least the past three or four years.

When it comes to parents and visitors dress on campus, she says it’s all part of the lesson they’re trying to teach children.
