NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Nearly two weeks after 75-year-old Lynda Pinder disappeared from the Lewis Yard community in Grand Bahama, her family is still searching for answers.

The grandmother, who lives with Alzheimer’s, went missing in late September after leaving home for her usual evening walk.

Her family says they are not giving up hope.

Despite searches on foot, neighbourhood search parties and the use of drones, there is still no sign of 75-year-old Lynda Pinder.

Pinder, who lives with Alzheimer’s, disappeared in late September after leaving home for her usual evening walk.

Now, with the case under the care of the Criminal Investigation Department, her daughter, Latara Laing, says the family has no new leads.

“No, no leads at all. We’ve searched. I think we need to probably go out and branch off from the Hunters area, more centrally located in Freeport, maybe around the Bazaar area, back uptown. But I don’t think there’s much hope looking for her through here.”

Laing says police remain in contact with the family and are using drones to search for her mother.

But the police investigation has not yet produced a breakthrough.

“Right now, I’m just as lost as anybody else. I have no idea. When I first found out that CID took it over, I thought they had something, but speaking to them, they said no. They just took it over to do a more intense investigation. But still, nothing.”

Laing is also urging the public to disregard false reports that her mother has been found.

Latara Laing – Daughter

“Don’t stop looking for her. We still haven’t found her. There have been a lot of rumours, false rumours that she has been found alive and well. As much as we would like that to be the truth, up to this time, it’s not true. She’s still out there somewhere, so don’t stop looking, please. Don’t stop looking for her because she has not been found as yet.”
