NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Red Cross president speaking out after thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen from its headquarters. He says efforts are underway to improve security.

The Bahamas Red Cross seeking to take preventative measures after their headquarters on John F. Kennedy was robbed this week of more than $77,000 dollars worth of equipment.

President of the organisation Edison Saunders says since the incident efforts have been made to beef up security.

As a result of the robbery, fingers were pointed to a breakdown in security.

Sumner says the organisation does its best to secure its property.

Police reporting that containers containing generators and electrical supplies were broken into.

Responding quickly the following day, the Baha Mar foundation donated $100,000 dollars to aid in the replacement of the equipment.

Sumner says the incident is unusual but doesn’t foresee it happening again.
