NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Bahamian woman who lied about her address while registering to vote, has to pay a fine of $1,000 to avoid spending two months in prison.

44-year-old Vany Brutus is also banned from enrolling on the voter’s register for three years.

Brutus received the fine after pleading guilty to making a false statement at her arraignment before senior magistrate Kendra Kelly-Burrows.

On March 30, brutus told a revising officer at the Parliamentary Registration Department that she lived on an unnamed road in Southern Shores.

Brutus told the magistrate that she intended to relocate to Southern Shores when she registered.
