Women Are Paid 20 Percent Less Than Men

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Gender equality in all forms to be the focus of the 13th Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting to be held right here in The Bahamas next week.

Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe referencing a report by the International Labour Organization which states, globally, women are paid 20% less than men.

To this, the minister says he believes The Bahamas has not yet delved deep enough into this particular statistic.

Wilchcombe says the government is working to bring about balance.
