NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Heavy rain can impact commuters not only with impassable flooded roads.

It can also cause damage to local roads by creating potholes or expanding existing imperfections.

Senior Highway Inspector in the Ministry of Works Jermaine Delancey says when the department is considering paving a new road, they look for inconsistencies.

That’s when the department has to cut that area out and fix it as a temporary patch.

But, those temporary patches could last longer than intended as the department paves a road based on the amount of patches and defects.
