NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Minor touch-ups to the Village Road project are set to be completed in the coming months.

Officials are aiming to have the Village Road improvement project fully wrapped up this summer.

But for now, the Ministry of Works and Utilities is hard at work digging up the sidewalks to replace them with new ones.

Resident Engineer for the Village Road Improvement Project Albrion Symonette says the sidewalks are just as old as the road and are in need of upgrades.

As a result, the decision was made to redo the sidewalks for the entire roadway.

When Our News visited Village Road, the majority of the sidewalks were already demolished.

As this happened, he says it was cleaned up and preparation made for the replacement walkways.

The contractor has also committed to repairing driveways that were damaged during the improvement project.
