NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Moments after the announcement of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, leaders across the globe began sharing their condolences on social media.

The Royal Family’s Twitter account broke the news to the world. The tweet read, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

In a statement, King Charles III said: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth and by countless people around the world.”

Former High Commissioner from the British High Commission Sarah Dickson also expressing sadness on The Queen’s death calling it “terribly sad news” adding that her thoughts and prayers with her family for their loss.

CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett saying, “I express my deepest regrets at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a life of service and duty is over, may she rest in peace”

While Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeting “As we look back at her life and her reign that spanned so many decades, Canadians will always remember and cherish Her Majesty’s wisdom, compassion and warmth.”

US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden also issuing a statement, calling The Queen more than a monarch and saying she defined an era. He added that she was the first British Monarch to whom people all around the world could feel a personal and immediate connection.

Adding to the condolences were former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle who tweeted they were grateful to have witnessed Her Majesty’s dedicated leadership and we are awed by her legacy of tireless, dignified public service.”

And, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair summing up her death as not only a monarch but the matriarch of their nation.
