3X Grammy Award Winning Artist Nelly Discusses Influence And Culture

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – Videos of Nelly’s performance at Aura Nightclub in Atlantis racking up thousands of views across social media users worldwide.

The 3x Grammy award winner performing several of his hit songs in front of a packed audience.

Regarded as one of the most significant crossover artists of the early 2000s, Nelly influenced a generation with hits like Air Force Ones and Grillz shaped fashion trends.

There was also the bandaid under his eye, qhich originated from an injury and became a symbolic protest for his friend, City Spud, who he believed was unjustly incarcerated.

Ahead of his performance, I spoke with Nelly about the global influence of his style.

“As much as I would love to take credit for a lot of things I’m influenced by life and by culture as everybody else and I’m just happy I can pass on.”

And while he did admit that he had not yet delved into Bahamian culture beyond the resort, He did indicate that Atlantis provided him with a taste of what he might encounter.

“It’s just the vibe. You know everybody here is very helpful very nice and you know they’re always accommodating. You just get a chance to be around great people, great weather and great serenity.”
