Still No ID For Drowning Victim

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Twenty-four hours after the boy’s body was found, police say family members have still not come forward to identify him. Nor has an official missing persons report been filed. It’s a concern for police, the social services minister and a children’s rights activist.

Sgt. Desiree Ferguson, attached to the Public Affairs and Communications Department of the Royal Bahamas Police Force revealing that the police are still much pretty clueless about the child’s identity, but they do believe they know his nationality.

Minister of Social Services, Obie Wilchcombe, noting that his ministry is working with the Royal Bahamas Police Force to help identify the victim as quickly as possible.

He adds that although children will partake in adventurous activities and can sometimes slip by the watchful eye of their parents, it’s also up to communities to be vigilant.

President of RISE Bahamas, Terneille Burrows is appealing to the victim’s family to come forward.

Burrows says particularly during the summer months, parents and guardians should pay more attention to the whereabouts of their children.
