NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The immigration minister is pleading with residents to alert the authorities about cases of illegal immigrants being harbored. He made the age-old pleas while bringing to light the fact that a migrant safe house was discovered in Abaco.

This migrant safe house was discovered by immigration officers in Abaco, where authorities say nearly 20 illegal migrants of different nationalities were being harbored.

The operation revealed that the farm shantytown grew by an estimated 200 acres since Hurricane Dorian.

Bell people are still being placed before the courts from the discovery of that safe house.

Operation Expedition came after South and Central Abaco Member of Parliament John Pinder expressed concern over the shantytown issue on that island.

Since Hurricane Dorian destroyed the Mudd and Pigeon Pea Shantytown, officials say they’re seeing the emergence of shantytowns in other areas of Marsh Harbour like off S.C. Bootle High.

Bell made this plea to residents who he says are harboring these migrants.
