NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 48-year-old man who sexually abused his teenage daughter was on Monday afternoon sentenced to 25 years in prison for incest.

The sentence takes effect from the date of his conviction on October 18, 2022.

In passing sentence, Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns said the man repeatedly breached the trust of his daughter, whom he was supposed to protect. He cannot be named because it would result in the identification of his victim.

The man forcibly took his then 15-year-old’s virginity after he pinned her down by the pool at the gated community where he lived in 2015. After the encounter, the man apologized and promised his daughter that he wouldn’t do it again.

However, he broke his promise on October 13, 2016, after he forced himself on his then 16-year-old daughter after playing porn videos.

The matter was reported to police after the girl told a teacher about the abuse.

The girl secretly recorded her father begging her not to tell anyone about the abuse because he didn’t want to go to prison.
