NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Law enforcement officers, who were recently hit with insurance policy changes, are getting more support. President of The Bahamas National Alliance Trade Union Congress Belinda Wilson standing in solidarity with the officers arguing government made a unilateral policy decision without consultation with the Police Staff Association or the Correctional Staff Association.

Days after the Police Staff Association hit out at a change in the insurance policy for officers, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe justified the change saying for officers already on the force, the insurance plan remains the same.

The change, which will only apply to new officers after July 1st, allows for single-family coverage. The addition of other family members will require additional payment.

Wilson joins Bahamas Public Services Union President Kimsley Ferguson who last week spoke out on the matter.
