Emergency Operations Center Activated In Grand Bahama

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama is expected to feel some effects from Hurricane Milton as early as Tuesday night.

In response, the Emergency Operations Center, located on the ground floor of the Harold Degregory Government Complex, Collab Unit has been activated.

All government agencies and stakeholders convened to finalize preparations for the storm. 

Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey says all hands are on deck.

She adds MET officials has said that lots rain is expected on the island.

Our News also speaking with Family Island Administrator for the City of Freeport Kenwood Cartwright who is also stationed in the EOC.

The Grand Bahama minister is asking residents to not take this storm lightly and to prepare.

As for when those shelters will open to the public Administrator Cartwright will make that decision.

Assistant Director of Social Services Jodie Burrows also sharing more information for those who may go to the hurricane shelters once they are open to the public.
