NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Northern Bahamians are no stranger to stranger to storms, having weathered Dorian, Irma, and Matthew in recent years.

Now, Hurricane Milton is a major hurricane roaring toward the western coast of Central Florida. When it comes out the other side, it could pass just north of the northwestern Bahamas.

With the northern Bahamas under tropical storm watch, Silbert Mills, owner of Bahamas Christian Network tells us prep is underway in Abaco.

Mills tells us their main concern is for residents still living in mobile homes near the government complex.

Over in Bimini, preparations are also underway.

Officer-in-Charge of the Bimini Police Department, Superintendent Berneil Pinder telling us they have a plan in place.

Superintendent Pinder also says the Bimini division’s disaster team met Tuesday morning.

“We had a brief meeting this morning, which would’ve included NEMA officials and it was just basically to get an update of the storm, where it is, and the projected path,” Pinder said. “Now our team is, well, we are in the ready position in the event that the storm comes to Bimini or affects Bimini.”
