Jones And the Liberty Destroy The Aces 99-61

USA – Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty emphatically staked their claim to being the WNBA’s best team with an utter destruction of the Las Vegas Aces, 99-61.

This is a highly anticipated matchup and a possible finals preview. The Aces came into the game with a league-leading 24-2 record.

The Liberty, right behind them at 21-6 and it seemed to be a pretty even matchup in the first half with both teams trading leads, concluding with the Liberty taking a 46-41 lead.

The second half, however, is a whole different story. The Liberty dominated the second half with an absurd outburst, outscoring the League’s Best team 50-17.

The Liberty dominated the game in every facet, dominating the Aces on the glass, grabbing 48 rebounds to the Aces’ 24.

They scored whenever they wanted, shooting 50% from the field and 44% from the three-point arc.

Jones scored 12 points on 5-12 shooting while grabbing 14 rebounds and dished out 4 assists but the most telling stat on the kind of game that Jones had was 2-14.

That was Aces all-star center A’ja Wilson’s shooting stats for the night.

Jones was her primary defender, anchoring a Liberty defense that hounded Wilson and the rest of the Aces’ offense, holding them to 33% shooting as a team.

Jones also took it to her on the block a couple of times.

Sabrina Ionescu went off for the Liberty, scoring 31 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 7 assists.

Breanna Steward had 23 6 and 5.

Jackie Young led the Aces in scoring with 16 points.

A’ja Wilson, the Aces’ best player and one of the league’s best was held to 9 points and 7 rebounds, down from her average of 20 and 10.

This win was an utter destruction of the WNBA’s best team.

The Liberty should now be considered the favorite to win the WNBA championship.

Playoffs are in a little over a month so they’ll have a chance to live up to their prediction.
