NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Petroleum retailers looking to continue their action at the pumps in hopes of getting results to their cries for a margin increase. If the government does not budge, they intend to keep it going for as long as it takes.

Three days after some gas stations halted the sale of diesel, Bahamas Petroleum Retailers Association President Raymond Jones says the association will continue until they get a resolution to their issues.

Jones did not explain what that fun day will look like.

Jones recently said operators are underwater and not making a reasonable profit.

Amid concerns stations will stop selling gas next, Jones assured that will not happen.

Retailers are looking to secure an increase in margins. The last increase came back in 2011 under the Ingraham administration, taking the margins from 44 to 54 percent.

Retailers say with operating costs and inflation, the current rate has made operating a bit more difficult.

This Esso service station owner says they’re not asking for much.

Today, some shell gas stations were the only ones not participating in the action.

When asked on Tuesday, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis said he would address the matter on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Cartwright says his stations resumed selling diesel today.
