Arsonist Facing Rape Charge Won’t Get Credit For Time on Remand
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A convicted arsonist has lost a bid to receive credit for the three years he spent on remand for an unrelated offense.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS. – A convicted arsonist has lost a bid to receive credit for the three years he spent on remand for an unrelated offense.
John Pratt pleaded guilty to arson last October and was sentenced to four years, less the time he’d spent on remand.
Pratt filed an appeal against his sentence after prison officials only deducted eight months of remand time, making his release date February 2027.
Pratt’s lawyer Brendalee Rae argued that Pratt had been on remand for three years.
However, Rae revealed that the three years was in respect of a rape charge that Pratt allegedly committed while on bail for arson.
As a result, his appeal was dismissed.
