Atlantis Donates Prizes to Special Education Unit Awards Banquet

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Atlantis donated the sole prize package raffled off at the Ministry of Education’s inaugural Special Education Awards Banquet, which marked the end of Special Education Week from May 27 to June 1. On Tuesday, June 4, Tosheena Robinson, Atlantis’ Executive Director of Community Development (center), presented the gift certificates to Special Education Officers Christine Cunningham (right) and Raquel Rolle-Munroe (left).

Prize winners included Samuel Nelson, a teacher at Anatol Rodgers High, and Nafeesa Arafat, a speech therapist with REACH. Each received a three-day/two-night stay at Royal Towers. Shannon Williams, a P.E. teacher at C.C. Sweeting won dinner for two at Café Martinique while Romona Moxey-Obilor, a teacher aide at the Center for the Deaf won dinner for two at Fish by José Andrés.

The Ministry of Education Special Education Unit comprises the Erin Gilmore School for the Blind, the Center for the Deaf, the Stapledon School, the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled, the Beacon School in Grand Bahama, 16 primary school units throughout New Providence, eight junior high school units and four senior high school units.
