Bahamas Rugby League Semi-Finals and Sr. Men’s Nat’l Basketball Team to Play in August

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The island of Grand Bahama will play host to the Bahamas Rugby League semi-finals this weekend and a Youth Rugby Camp this weekend.

Freeport RFC will host the Cuckoos Rugby Club out of Nassau on Saturday at 2pm on their home turf in Freeport, Grand Bahama. 

The winner will play for the Bahamas Cup against a combined squad of Bucaneers and Bailou players in new providence on May 20th. 

There will still be rugby in the capital as Bahamas rugby will also host a youth rugby outreach clinic at the Winton Rugby Pitch. 

Children ages 5-16 of all abilities are welcome to come out and learn the game. 

Refreshments will be served. The clinic starts at 12pm.

This is a great opportunity for elementary, middle and high schoolers to learn the game. 

Meanwhile, The Bahamas Senior Men’s National Basketball team is slated to play in the FIBA Olympic pre-qualifying tournament this August. 

The Bahamas will compete in pool a against Argentina, Cuba and Panama.

The winner of the tournament will punch their clock for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. 

The Bahamas had three NBA players and a deep pool of talented, experienced professionals competing internationally.
