NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The powerful storm spawned a tornado outbreak prior to landfall, leaving millions without electricity across Central Florida.

Making landfall as a category 3 hurricane, Milton unleashed historic rainfall across parts of the Tampa Bay area on the gulf coast, marking it as a one-in-1,000-year event.

As Hurricane Milton barreled through Florida, some communities were left with widespread damage, while others, like east Orlando, were spared the worst of the storm’s fury.

Bahamian Pam Robinson lived in Orlando for 15 years. She was one of the millions of people who decided to ride out the storm at home.

Despite the storm’s strength, Robinson says her home was spared from serious damage.

While Milton wreaked havoc in other Florida counties, Robinson believes her past experiences with hurricanes in The Bahamas helped her prepare mentally for Milton.
