U.S.A. – Wednesday night will he highlighted by the 14th regular season matchup between Buddy Hield and Deandre Ayton.
Hield will make his debut with the Golden State Warriors against Ayton and the Portland Trail Blazers on October 23.
At home at the chase center in San Francisco, the Warriors are favored by 5.5 points.
Another familiar face in a new place, Eric Gordon and the Philadelphia 76ers will host the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 pm in the first game of an ESPN double header.
Philadelphia is favored by 2.5 points.
Kai Jones and the new look Los Angeles Clippers will begin the season at home when they host the Phoenix Suns at the intuit dome at 10pm on ESPN.
The Suns are favored by 4.5 points.
Over the weekend, Jones and the Clippers will face Hield and the Warriors on October 27.
The preseason gave some insight into what we can expect from the group this season.
Jones signed a two-way contract with the Clippers after he averaged eight points and five rebounds per game in five preseason contests.
Hield had an immediate impact on the Warriors lineup in the post Klay Thompson era and averaged 12.2 points per game on 49 percent shooting from beyond the arch.
Gordon is also in his first season with the 76ers, and averaged five points per game in the preseason.
Ayton heads into his second season with the Blazers after averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in the preseason.
NCAA Basketball
Romad Dean, briefly entered the transfer portal in the offseason, but chose to return to Fordham. He opened his junior season with the rams on a high note, leading the team to an exhibition win.
Dean finished with 17 points and seven rebounds in Fordham’s 67-64 win over Holy Cross at the Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx.
The Rams were down three, 50-47, with 5:41 remaining before Dean’s five points sparked an 18-5 Fordham run to take its biggest lead of the game.
As a freshman he played in all 33 games in limited minutes.
Those numbers increased as a sophomore last season, when he again appeared in all 33 games but with 15 starts.
He averaged 4.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
He also had two double digit scoring games and a career high 12 rebounds against St. Joseph’s.
Wrestling
All Caribbean Wrestling returned to The Bahamas for its second event and the hometown favorite emerged with a title.
Kaylia Capri gave that home crowd exactly what they came to see when she won the all Caribbean Wrestling Women’s Title.
She defeated Mazerrati at ACW’s “Fight For Paradise” over the weekend at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.
ACW President and World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer Mark Henry said his organization aims to be the leading promotion in the Caribbean.
Fight for Paradise was ACW’s second event in The Bahamas this year, following the “Baha Bash” last June.
