NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Forget just sitting and watching the groups rush by because for the next four years, Junkanoo is Aliv, and the company, through its new partnership with government and the National Junkanoo Committee, is giving every fan something new to do between the rush, the cowbells and the brass.

For the first time ever, spectators will be able to play games, answer trivia, and win prizes, all while the parade is happening.

“We have a polling feature, you know, an interactive game that’s coming out as the groups pass. What we can do is from the background, we’re able to send trivia questions so persons can win different prizes for our customers to interact.”

Bain says it’s meant to keep the excitement going, even in those long breaks between groups, turning each section into its own mini celebration.

Before the fun begins, fans will notice something new on their tickets too.

Every digital ticket now comes with a color-coded barcode, making it easier to find exactly where you belong on Bay Street.

“The bar code will actually be color coordinated with your section. So the lower tier sections, the mid tier sections, the higher sections, they would all have their unique colors which would be easily identifiable for customers.”

When you get to the parade there’s help for the part everyone struggles with, finding your seat.

This year, the Aliv Events app uses GPS to guide you directly to your section.

“We decided to just, you know what try a different avenue…Listen, I always use my GPS when I’m traveling. Let me use my GPS when I’m walking, and we tested it out and it worked, and I started screaming because I was like, yes!”

Organizers walked the full parade route themselves to map out every row and section, making GPS seating possible.

Combined with the new interactive trivia and color-coded tickets, they say the goal is to make Junkanoo smoother and smarter from start to finish.
