NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Capital Union Bank Rugby Championships were held on Saturday afternoon at the Winton Rugby Pitch.

Freeport RFC out of Grand Bahama, made a heroic stand before ultimately falling to a combined Baillou Buccaneers team, 48-26.

Rugby is returning to full swing after a break for COVID, look for next season to be even more exciting and action-packed.

Baseball

Antoan Richardson and his San Francisco Giants got off to a shaky start do the season but over the past week, things have turned around.

The 2023 major league baseball season did not start off well for Antoan Richardson and his San Francisco Giants.

The only Bahamian to ever coach in major league baseball and his team got off to a less-than-stellar 17-23 start to begin the season.

That changed last week when the team got a 6-3 win over the Phillies.

The team has been 6-1 ever since, sweeping the Phillies and taking 2 of 3 from the Marlins, and winning last night against the Minnesota Twins.

The Giants are currently on an extended midwest road trip where they will also play a series against the Milwaukee Brewers before returning to the bay.

They have a 23-24 record right now, but don’t be surprised if they had back to the west coast with a winning record.
