BCC: We Don’t Stand For Abuse, Rape

The Bahamas Christian Council president says although church leaders are still divided on marital rape, they want to solve the problem.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander says the church’s stance is still divided on the matter of marital rape, however; he says church leaders can agree on one thing – they want to solve the problem.

In an upcoming discussion with government and Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe, Bishop Fernander says the BCC will be seeking clarity on how marital rape can be addressed by the law while respecting marriage.

Fernander says rape should not happen, and there should never be a time when an individual rapes a loved one.
