NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It all started on Exuma with a group of local and international conservationists that recognized that human intrusion was posing a threat to the chain of islands and the country’s flamingo population.

The efforts to preserve the environment, eventually led to the formation of the Bahamas National Trust.

President of the Bahamas National Trust Council Joanne Smith tells us more.

Now sixty-sIx years later the BNT is reflecting on how far the trust has come.

And how can you help the national trust celebrate?

“The public can help us celebrate by coming out to our events, donating to what we’re doing we ask them to do that to help us get the word out these are the things that we really want to do,” Smith said.
