NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Rumors were circulating that sprinter Terrance Jones was suspended by the BAAAs. The organization begged to differ.
Minister of Sports, Mario Bowleg yesterday, speaking on the rumors that swirled about sprinter Terrance Jones being suspended.
The BAAAs countered said rumors with a statement that Jones and all other athletes were indeed cleared to compete.
Basketball
Moving to basketball, national team Assistant Coach Moses Johnson says that the national team is locked and loaded and ready.
He’s excited about the team prospects as it travels to play in an Olympic qualifying tournament with NBA players Deandre Ayton, Kai Jones and Buddy Hield.
Coach Johnson says not to count out the team’s supporting cast as well.
The team will play some exhibition games in Puerto Rico against the University of Kansas, then head to Argentina to play in the qualifier.
It’s winter down there so they’ll have to get acclimated to the weather and they’ll have some tough opponents but they’re all about making this Olympic push.
World Relays
Moving back to the track – Come May 2024, the World Athletics Relays will return to The Bahamas. This is the fourth time we will host the high-level track and field event.

The official launch for the premiere track event was held at the Thomas A. Robinson national stadium. Sports Minister Mario Bowleg was on hand for the launch and says the government is committed to bringing high-level sporting events to The Bahamas.
And chairman of the event Dr. Daniel Johnson says these relays fit into government’s overall theme to promote sports in paradise.
The World Athletics Relays will serve as a pre-cursor for the olympics. So if you want to participate in the relays at the Olympics in Paris next year, you must come through The Bahamas.
