NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Public Service Union’s 14-day deadline for government is just days away, and the union is gearing up to take action.

Berthony McDermott reports.

Nearly two weeks after The Bahamas Public Service Union (BPSU) issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Davis administration, union president Kimsley Ferguson says nothing has been done to address their concerns.

On May 12th, finance and accounting officers gathered at BPSU Hall on East Street South, calling on government to rectify outstanding promotions and reclassifications of over 250 employees.

Following the union’s press conference, State Minister for The Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle said no group in the public service is favored over the other.

She says the government is moving as quickly as it can receive the necessary recommendations from any ministry.

Davis signed the memorandum of understanding with some unions back in August, just weeks before the general election, pledging to address key labour issues if elected.

The BPSU President says the plan is to meet with the entire body Monday night.
