NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute and LJM Maritime Academy signing a three-year memorandum of understanding this morning, signaling the rebirth of two workforce readiness programs.

Our Megan Shepherd tells us that officials are excited for the opportunities that will come out of this partnership.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding between BTVI and LJM Maritime, breathing new life into a workforce readiness maritime technical preparatory program for BTVI and a Maritime technical core program for LJM.

BTVI’s Interim President, Dr. Linda Davis noting that The Bahamas has the third largest shipping registry in the world.

LJM Maritime Academy President Dr. Brendamae Cleare explained this is the second signing of an MOU between the two institutions, the first taking place in 2016.

LJM Board Chairman Chandler Sands also revealing some startling statistics as it relates to the makeup of the workforce in the local industry.

Executives are encouraging more Bahamians to take advantage of the opportunities available in the thriving industry.
