Bushwackers Ready for New Year’s Day Junkanoo Parade
GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Over on Grand Bahama, the Junkanoo hype is also picking up but for the world-famous Bushwackers, it’s all about having a good time.
GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Over on Grand Bahama, the Junkanoo hype is also picking up but for the world-famous Bushwackers, it’s all about having a good time.
Co-leader, Ricardo Lightbourn says for decades, the fun group has always been a crowd favorite and this year, they’ll have it no other way.
The Grand Bahama Junkanoo parade will be held under the theme “Pineyard Rush” and Lightbourn says it’s a perfect match for the Bushwackers.
Their costumes are often made of, well bush, or other elements that were traditionally used during the early years of Junkanoo.
Lightbourn says the group has gained a following nationally.
Lightbourne also highlights the significance of the parade to the entire Grand Bahama community.
